Introduction:Sm2O3 is a white powder with slightly yellowing, with two kinds of crystal systems, body centered cubic or monoclinic. The chemical properties of rare earth oxides are similar, and samarium oxide is no exception, but their magnetic moments are different from those of other oxides, 1.45M B. The density is 8.347g/cm3. The melting point is 2262 degrees centigrade. Insoluble in water and soluble in acid. Absorb carbon dioxide and water in the air. It can be used as a luminescent glass additive for absorption of infrared, a coating in a photosensitive material, and a samarium drill permanent magnetic material and the production of metal samarium. The rare earth chloride solution or monazite rare earth ore obtained by extraction, stripping, zinc reduction, oxalic acid precipitation, separation, and burning
 
Usage:Also called Samaria, Samarium has a high neutron absorption capacity, Samarium Oxides have specialized uses in glass, phosphors, lasers, and thermoelectric devices. Calcium chloride crystals treated with samarium have been employed in lasers which produce beams of light intense enough to burn metal or bounce off the moon.
